Grado beaches: which area should you choose?

Grado’s official tourism portal divides roughly ten kilometres of coastline into four principal beach areas: the main GIT beach, Costa Azzurra, Spiaggia al Bosco/Città Giardino and Grado Pineta. They do not offer exactly the same experience, so choosing the beach first can also help you choose where to stay.

Main GIT beach

The main beach is central and highly organised. The official page describes multiple sectors, family areas, food services, sports spaces, accessible facilities and online booking. It is a practical option for travellers staying near the centre who want structured services. Admission arrangements and available facilities should be checked for the current season.

Costa Azzurra

Costa Azzurra is the western beach, close enough to combine beach time with the historic centre. The official tourism page highlights family play areas, sports and both free-access and concession sections. It can be a good choice for a shorter stay or for travellers who want more flexibility than a fully organised beach.

Spiaggia al Bosco and Città Giardino

This part of the coast has a more residential and holiday-oriented atmosphere. It is useful for families and longer stays where easy access to the waterfront matters more than being in the old town. Services vary by establishment and season.

Grado Pineta

Pineta lies farther east, around three kilometres from central Grado, with a cycle connection to town. It is associated with a quieter setting, family stays, dog-friendly sections and kitesurfing. It is a strong option for a beach-first holiday, while evening visits to the historic centre require a little more planning.
